Work has stopped in Angola since late March due to the state of emergency declared because of the covid-19 pandemic and has been phased back in since 25 May.
In the decree published this Wednesday to which Lusa had access, the Ministry of Transport authorizes the resumption of 13 projects considered a priority in the maritime and port, airport and rail sectors, at different stages of implementation.
Mota-Engil is in charge of the rehabilitation of the runway at Luanda International Airport 4 de Fevereiro, still awaiting the mobilization of resources, and the construction of a breakwater for the new Cabinda Pier Bridge, a project integrated in the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities, also to be started.
The Chinese construction companies CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation), CHEC (China Harbour Engineering Company) and CGGC (China Gezhouba Group Company) will also be able to resume the works underway in Cabinda and Soyo (Zaire province) related to the port sector.
The ministry's list also includes the construction of the New Luanda International Airport (NAIL), delivered to the Chinese AVIC and railway works, CMEC (China Machine Engineering Corporation) and China Hyway and the acquisition of motorcars (DMU) for the Luanda Railways to the Zagope/Construtora Andrade Gutierrez consortium.
The list ends with the construction and equipping projects of the DMU's workshop for the Caminhos de Ferro de Luanda in Cazenga, under the responsibility of Somague/Quantum, and four overpasses on the same line by Construtora Andrade Gutierrez.
