From the first minutes of the match, the host team began to show its dominance. The French team opened the scoring and, although Angola tried to fight back, its opponents managed to gain a five-goal lead (7-2) within 10 minutes of play.
At a certain point, according to a note from the International Handball Federation, to which VerAngola had access, coach Carlos Viver called for a timeout, after which the 'Pérolas' improved and were able to reduce the goal difference to 11-9.
However, in the first half, Angola was unable to equalize or surpass their opponents on the scoreboard, with the game going into half-time with the score 18-14 in favor of France.
In the second half of the game, the hosts continued to confirm their favoritism, reaching the 37th minute winning by 22-15.
According to the statement, the Angolan coach once again called for a timeout, but it was of no use, as the difference between the two teams continued to increase.
France ended up beating Angola 38-24.
After this defeat, the 'Pérolas' will play again on Saturday against Brazil, in a game where they cannot lose, but a draw will be enough for the country to advance in the Olympic tournament.
