Sodiam will auction 17 diamonds equivalent to 10.80 carats

Sodiam, a state-owned diamond trading company, announced this Friday that it will hold an electronic auction to bid for 17 special stones, that is, with a minimum weight of 10.80 carats each.

In a statement, the Angolan National Diamond Trading Company (Sodiam) announced that viewing sessions will take place from the 23rd to the 26th of this month, at the company's headquarters in Luanda, and that the bidding process, which will be conducted exclusively electronically, is expected to close on the 27th of June, at 10:00 am local time.

The auction is aimed at customers registered in the Sodiam database, with expertise in the marketing of special stones, and the lots will include 11 stones from the Luele mine, three from the Lulo production, two from the Chitotolo mine and one from the Kaixepa production.

This is the fourteenth auction of rough diamonds organized by Sodiam since 2019, the last one having been held in March 2025.

In 2024, Sodiam exported around 10.2 million carats of rough diamonds, for a total value of around US$1.48 billion, corresponding to an average price of US$145 per carat, positioning Angola as the world's third largest producer of rough diamonds in terms of value.

Sodiam was founded in 1999 and the productions sold through this state-owned company originate from 27 productions, kimberlite and alluvial, and cover the entire spectrum of qualities in terms of sizes, models, purity and colors.
