The information was released this Wednesday, in Johannesburg (South Africa), by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, in statements to Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), on the sidelines of a visit to the fair of BRICS.
Without giving further details about the products to be covered by this measure, Lima Massano also took the opportunity to talk about food safety.
In this field, the minister considered that the country needs to "make great advances", as well as "gain greater autonomy". It should also be ensured, added the official cited by RNA, that the goods produced have "conditions" to be consumed by the population, "that is, that people have enough income to acquire them".
Thus, the official referred that "in a first moment, the great challenge" is to produce more: "In a first moment, the great challenge is to produce more and what will allow, with the instruments that we are putting in place, to have the expectation of, in the coming weeks, we will also be able to announce the minimum prices for certain products, in this logic of food safety and, therefore, bring more national and international operators to the sector".
According to Jornal de Angola, this Wednesday, delegations from Angola and Belarus met on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, with the European country expressing interest in supporting Angola in the field of food security. "We are going to keep the focus on the field of agriculture to ensure food security. Belarus has a lot to offer, from agricultural equipment, fertilizers and other equipment," said, at the time, Sergei Aleinir, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, quoted by Jornal from Angola.
