Government will privatize Angola Telecom, Multitel, TV Cabo and TV Zimbo on the stock exchange

The Government will begin the privatization process of companies in the information and social communication technology sector, including Angola Telecom, Multitel, TV Cabo, TV Zimbo, among others.

According to the deputy coordinator of the multisectoral committee of the Privatization Program (Propriv), this Tuesday's meeting analyzed the privatization processes of each of the companies, including the Media Rumo group and the Medianova group, recovered by the State in scope of the asset recovery process.

"We will work to accelerate the privatization process of these companies in the next 30 days, through a mechanism that will be presented to the commission", informed Ottoniel dos Santos at the end of the meeting.

Ottoniel dos Santos, also Secretary of State for the Treasury, said that the meeting discussed what "the most appropriate procedures for privatizing" companies would be, highlighting that "for one of them the mechanism is the initial public offering, which is the privatization of companies through the stock exchange mechanism".

"We will work to accelerate the privatization process of these companies in the next 30 days", he informed.

Regarding companies that are part of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), Ottoniel dos Santos said that two units of that industrial space (Indutubo and Mecametal) will be privatized, as well as industrial units located in the province of Cabinda (a mill and a complex cold), highlighting that there are a total of four assets that in that province will now enter the privatization phase.

The government official highlighted that the Catete silos and nine commercial units that are part of the Poupa Lá supermarket chain, distributed across the provinces of Benguela, Cabinda, Luanda, Lunda Sul and Zaire, are also part of the list of companies to be privatized. be that of a public tender, in the form of asset disposal.

"These companies or these units will be privatized and after 30 days, which is the phase in which the preparation and evaluation of these same assets are being carried out, the subsequent phase will proceed, which is the public tender phase, which will last 52 days , through, first, the advertisement, then the candidacies are presented by the active Poupa Lá, which will last approximately 25 days", he said.

The deputy coordinator of PROPRIV's multisectoral commission advanced that the amount to be received from the sale of assets in the ZEE, the units in Cabinda and Poupa Lá will be determined through a prior assessment prior to the tender.

"We have 30 days to make this determination by the specialized entities and guarantee that the tender can be launched with a reference price for these assets", he stressed.
