The information was provided by José Calengi, director general of INE. Cited by Jornal de Angola, the official added that the Ministry of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland will provide the necessary support so that the air resources are available to agents on the ground.
Speaking within the scope of a meeting with the governor of Cuando Cubango – the province where a team from INE, led by José Calengi, is about to verify the pilot census work that is taking place in Cuito Cuanavale and Cuangar –, the official informed that a total of 41 all-terrain vehicles were made available by the Ministry of Territorial Administration, with a view to helping the pilot census teams taking place in seven provinces.
Remember that the pilot census was officially launched last month (July 19). For José Calengi, after this act, it is assumed as necessary to assess the degree of readiness of the work in the chosen provinces, in order to overcome the constraints.
According to the official, since the launch of the pilot census they have received "only information", which does not always "reflect the whole reality".
"Since the pilot census was launched, we only receive information. They do not always reflect the whole reality and experience advises that, in addition to the data shared regularly regarding the development of activities, it is also necessary to verify in the field", he indicated, cited by Jornal de Angola.
Currently, according to the director general of INE, the agents are in the final stretch of the process of collecting information related to "special cases" (hospitals, shelters, penitentiaries and homeless people) to then go to the households relatives. "It is this programming that was made at the launch of the pilot census on the 19th of July of the current year on the need to start with special cases, whose work is in the final phase, so that we can later proceed with the collection of information from households", explained, cited by Jornal de Angola.
In the specific case of Cuando Cubango, the official considered that "with the support" of the provincial government, "above all, of the governor/coordinator of the provincial technical commission", they will "easily achieve the desired objectives of this important operation".
He also took the opportunity to mention that the technical support group for the pilot census multisectoral commission has received frequent positive information about the pace of the procedure, and everything indicates that the goals will be set as planned, writes Jornal de Angola.
The provincial governor left the guarantee that the executive led by him will monitor and help in the sense that the pilot census in the municipalities that were chosen in the province reaches the desired success.
It should be recalled that seven provinces in the country were chosen to be the preparatory stage for the 2024 General Census. In this pilot phase, the provinces of Luanda, Cunene, Bengo, Bié, Cuando Cubango, Lunda Norte and Uíge are covered.
