Pilot census of population will start in July

The starting date of the Pilot Census of Population and Housing was changed from May to July this year. The initial date of the pilot census was scheduled for May 15th, however, it was changed to July 19th.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Director General of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Hernâni Pena Luís.

Thus, the official justified this change with the fact that some constraints had been identified in the provision of physical facilities, such as schools, writes Angop.

Speaking to the press at the end of a meeting of the Multisectoral Commission for the 2024 Census, Hernâni Pena Luís made it known that the said meeting served to review the main issues related to the tasks suggested to the technical group by the coordinator, Francisco Pereira Furtado, Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic.

Cited by Angop, the official also clarified that to ensure the successful implementation of these suggestions, there have been meetings every week between the coordinator and the technical group to "tune the machine" of the pilot census.

In addition, he also made it known that the cartographic updating process is now taking place, which should take place by February next year, considering the size of the country's territory, whose main work center is taking place in Luanda, and then move on to the rest of the country, writes Angop.

Cited by Angop, the official also guaranteed that, in general, the means of work were listed in advance, having also highlighted the direct and technical involvement of INE in the procedure.
