The information was released this Wednesday by the Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João, when speaking at the end of a meeting with Nishimura Yasutoshi, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Speaking to the press, cited by Angop, the Minister of Economy and Planning also admitted that, alongside production, it is essential that rice producers in the country have priority in supplying the domestic market.

"We would like to further explore Japan's experience in rice production," he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

Regarding the audience, the minister said that it served, among others, to address matters related to startups. "We had a very fruitful meeting, we clearly said that relations are still far below their potential, we mentioned our desire to continue working with startups, to develop our incubators and to make sure that startups can actually contribute to solving the unemployment in urban areas," he said, quoted by RNA.

The field of Education was another of the topics addressed at the meeting. According to the minister, emphasis was placed on the need to reinforce human capital, using information technologies.

Mário Caetano João also referred that in general they discussed "the participation of the economy" of Japan in the development of Angola. "In general, we address the participation of the Japanese economy in Angola's growth, fundamentally in the importation of technology, since we understand that the trade and financial balance is below the potential of the two States", he said, quoted by Angop.

Nishimura Yasutoshi, on the other hand, made it known that his visit follows João Lourenço's visit to Japan, in addition to the business forum between both countries (which took place in March), and added: "Hence, during my visit to Angola we are going to sign a mutual protection agreement for investments".

Still on his visit to Angolan soil, the Japanese minister, quoted by Angop, said that his trip aims to strengthen and materialize the dialogues between both heads of governments.

He also highlighted that Angola is a country of great importance for relations with Japan and, therefore, the 26 Japanese companies operate on national soil, aiming to stimulate the strengthening of bilateral relations, having thus referred that the Japanese Government will provide support to these companies to materialize the various projects taking place in Angola, writes Angop.

In addition to the Minister of Economy and Planning, the Japanese Minister also met with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço. "The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received today [Wednesday] Nishimura Yasutoshi, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, who is making an official visit to Angola, accompanied by about thirty businessmen", reads in a brief note from the Presidency of the Republic, which VerAngola had access to.

On the occasion, the Japanese minister referred that "his coming to Angola is a clear demonstration that Japan firmly supports the policy followed by the country of diversifying the economy, attracting investment and improving the business environment", the note also refers.
