According to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the signing of the memoranda, which took place at the headquarters of the Japanese multinational, was witnessed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

"The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, witnessed this afternoon in the city of Nagoya the signing of three memorandums of understanding between Angolan institutions and the Toyota Tsusho Corporation, in a ceremony held at the headquarters of this Japanese multinational", reads the note.

One of the initialed memorandums provides for the construction of groundwater collection systems, which will be powered by solar energy.

"The Ministry of Energy and Water signed a memorandum that provides for the construction of groundwater collection systems (holes), powered by solar energy", says the statement, adding that these will serve to "lessen the problems of drought" in the south of the country.

Another agreement, adds the note, was initialed between the Ministry of Health and the Japanese company and concerns the "donation of a vehicle for the refrigerated transport of vaccines".

The third document "links the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Barra do Dande to Toyota for the creation of renewable energy supply facilities and water supply systems in the Free Zone of Barra do Dande", reads the note.

It should be recalled that on Monday, Angola and Japan initialed a letter of intent for cooperation in the space field.

After having worked in Nagoya, the head of state, accompanied by the first lady of the Republic, traveled to Kyoto. João Lourenço's trips, according to another note from CIPRA to which VerAngola had access, were made using public trains.

"After having worked in the city of Nagoya – the city to which he went using public trains –, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in the company of the first lady, headed for the city of Kyoto, where tomorrow [Wednesday, 15] will complete the final stage of his official visit to Japan", says the note.

The statement also states that until Kyoto, which the President arrived using rail transport, João Lourenço will carry out "an essentially cultural program, in line with the traces of ancestry and historical legacy of the city that was once the capital of Japan".
