Angola and Japan sign agreement in the space domain

Angola and Japan signed, this Monday, an agreement in the field of space, which foresees the sending of young Angolans to the Japanese country for specialized training in aerospace engineering.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, to which VerAngola had access, the "letter of intent for cooperation" was signed by the director general of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), Zolana Pedro, "in the presence of the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira".

While on the Japanese side, the Deputy Director General for International Cooperation and Secretariat for National Space Policy of the Government of Japan, Soichiro Sakaguchi, was a signatory.

According to the statement, the agreement "provides for the sending of young Angolans to Japan for specialized training in aerospace engineering".

Mário Oliveira – in statements to the press, cited by Angop – referred that they will work with the Asian country in terms of training staff. "With Japan we are going to work on the perspective of training staff and gather their experience in the space industry", he indicated.

Also this Monday, the President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister of Japan. According to a statement from CIPRA, which VerAngola had access to, the meeting took place at the end of Monday afternoon.

"At the end of this Monday afternoon, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, as part of the official visit that today [Monday] began to the country of the Rising Sun", reads the note.

At the center of the conversation between João Lourenço and Fumio Kishida were bilateral relations, "started with the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976", adds the note.

According to the communiqué, in statements to the press, "in the interval between the meeting of the two delegations and the dinner offered by the Japanese Prime Minister to the distinguished visitor", João Lourenço and Fumio Kishida reiterated "the will to cooperate that animates the two countries across a wide range of domains".
