Lucas Quilundo, who was speaking at the end of an extraordinary plenary meeting of the CNE, said that a complaint from the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) regarding the disclosure of the provisional results, rejected because "the request was presented irregularly " and the "legal basis was not in accordance with what the law establishes".
According to the CNE spokesperson, the request contains "a confusion", as UNITA's complaint has to do with the minutes of the polling stations, and not with the disclosure of the provisional results.
Therefore, the plenary "deliberated unanimously for the preliminary rejection of this request".
The information provided by the observation missions that are in the country and that make statements to journalists this Friday afternoon, including representatives of the African Union, Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), Forum of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
According to him, they were "unanimous in recognizing the peaceful and orderly way in which the electoral process took place", as well as the voting and subsequent procedures, reaffirming that they were able to observe all electoral operations.
"Their assessment is that the process took place within the norms that govern universal standards in this matter and there is reference that what happened in Angola and the organized way in which the CNE conducted the process can serve as an example to other countries", stressed Lucas Quilundo.
Throughout the day of this Friday, the minutes should arrive at the scrutiny center and the plenary will start the definitive tabulation session of the final results for the preparation of the national tabulation minutes, from which a new President and Vice-President will be appointed. and deputies to the National Assembly.
