The results released in real time made available on the organization's website, as a result of the summary minutes posted in polling stations, after the vote on Wednesday, refer that of the total of 95,900 votes counted, 609 were blank votes and 551 null ones.

The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), led by Adalberto Costa Júnior, totals 51,659 valid votes, the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) 39,304 valid votes, the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) 898 valid votes and the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) 827 votes.

According to the Mudei Civic Movement, the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola – Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE) has 696 valid votes, the Social Renewal Party (PRS) has 600 votes, the National Patriotic Alliance (APN) has 394 valid votes and the National Party for Justice in Angola (P-Njango) with 362 valid votes.

The organization reports that of the more than 13 thousand polling stations 96 were scrutinized and of the more than 26 thousand polling stations 330 were scrutinized.

The country's fifth general elections perpetuated the dispute between the country's two main parties, the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), which are trying to win a majority of the 220 seats in the National Assembly.

João Lourenço, current President, is trying for a second term and his main opponent is Adalberto Costa Júnior, leader of UNITA.

According to the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the first provisional results indicate that the MPLA won the elections with 60.65 percent, followed by UNITA, with 33.85 percent, when 33.16 percent of the total votes are counted.

For its part, UNITA contradicts these CNE figures and claims victory in the scrutiny.

"Our polling centers [give] clear provisional indicators of UNITA's winning trend in all provinces of our country," said Abel Chivukuvuku, number two on the party's lists, at a press conference.
