According to the Angop news agency, the list delegates were detained in Canacassala commune, Nambuangongo municipality, Bengo province, accused of attempting to tamper with electoral records.

According to the president of the Provincial Electoral Commission, José Pedro Jamba, the detainees were in possession of false records, which had already been filled out.

UNITA's Secretary for Communication and Image, Lourenço Bento, confirmed the arrest, but told Lusa that the documents were not false records, as they were material used in the electoral training of delegates.

As he explained, the training is based on materials and documents similar to the real ones.

UNITA took steps with the authorities of Bengo province to release the delegates, without success, since according to the deputy provincial secretary of UNITA in Bengo, Joel Pacheco, the delegates on the list are still being held.
