According to José Semedo, spokesman for the Technical Monitoring Commission of International Observers – created by order of the president of the AN, Fernando Dias dos Santos, and which is already operating –, the 50 observers are divided into several countries and groups, with emphasis on the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the Organization of American States.
"In theory, there are 50 international observers, divided by several countries or groups. We have at the level of SADC, there are 15, we have at the level of the CPLP, we have at the level of the Organization of American States", he said quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA ).
Regarding its distribution across the country, the spokesperson indicated that this will depend on the interest of each group: "It depends on the interest of each group of international observers".
The commission, according to him, will be responsible for monitoring the observers while they are in the country.
"What this commission will do is accompany them from the beginning during their stay in Angola and until their return, which in principle is expected to be after the declaration of the final results of the general elections", he said.
It should be noted that the arrival of international observers in Angola will begin next week, with the arrival of observers from the CPLP.
The official also spoke about the commission, indicating that they have already given the 'green light' to a set of documents and that a weekly meeting is planned to take stock of the activities: "We have just approved a series of documents that have the to do with the distribution of tasks, the distribution of groups, so we are already working, and in principle we will have a weekly meeting to balance our activities and foresee others", he said, quoted by RNA.
