Covid-19: Angola with 233 new cases and 15 deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 233 new cases of covid-19, 15 deaths and 208 people recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health released this Tuesday.

The new infections were reported in the provinces of Luanda (138), Kwanza Sul (22), Cunene (14), Moxico (11), Lunda Norte (10), Lunda Sul (nine), Benguela (eight), Huambo (six), Cabinda (six), Bié (five) and Namibe (four), with ages ranging from 4 months to 95 years, being 149 males and 84 females.

As for the deaths, seven men and eight women, aged between 29 and 80 years, occurred in the provinces of Huila (nine), Lunda Sul (two), Cunene (two), Luanda and Malanje (one each).

Meanwhile, 208 people, between 1 and 74 years old, have recovered from the disease, with 11 reported in Luanda, 31 in Huila, 20 in Cunene, 14 in Lunda Sul, eight in Moxico, seven in Lunda Norte, six in Huambo, five in Bié, four in Zaire, one in Kwanza Sul and one in Namibe.

For now, the country has 44,964 confirmed cases, 1118 deaths, 41,781 recoveries, and 2065 active cases, of which 14 are critical, 25 serious, 53 moderate, 29 light, and 1944 asymptomatic.

There are 121 people hospitalized, 230 in institutional quarantine and 694 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

In the last 24 hours, the laboratories processed 5069 samples by RT-PCR, making a cumulative of 864,142 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At entry and exit points in Luanda, 435 people were also tested on an antigen test basis.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,370,427 deaths worldwide, among more than 207.84 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the most recent assessment by the agency France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
