Law on Assisted Human Reproduction approved. Infertility considered a public health problem

The Law on Medically Assisted Human Reproduction was unanimously approved this Tuesday, August 10th, by the National Assembly.

The Bill, a legislative initiative by the President of the Republic as the holder of the Executive Power, was submitted to the final global vote, and obtained 169 votes in favour, none against and no abstentions, according to a government statement to which VerAngola had access.

The purpose of this diploma is to guarantee all citizens access to reproductive health services, in order to solve the problem of infertility, which currently represents a public health problem, with medical, social, cultural and psychological complications, according to Deputy Maria Augusta Correia, when presenting the report-joint opinion.

The report-opinion was approved in the specialty, in a joint meeting of the specialized working commissions related to the matter, on August 5th, equally unanimously.

The new Law on Medically Assisted Human Reproduction contains five chapters, eight sections and 51 articles.
