Covid-19: Angola with 143 new cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 143 new cases of covid-19, four deaths and the recovery of 96 people from the disease, in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, released this Tuesday.

The document said that positive cases were reported in the provinces of Luanda (37), Huila (26), Cunene (20), Lunda Sul (17), Bié (16), Moxico (eight), Huambo (seven), Uige (four), Benguela (three), Zaire (two), Cabinda, Lunda Norte and Malanje (one each), with 87 females and 56 males, aged between 3 and 84 years.

The deaths that occurred in the period under review refer to three males and one female, aged between 17 and 83 years, being one in Cunene, equal number in Huila, Moxico and Luanda.

However, the health authorities announced that 96 patients were considered recovered, of which 44 in Cunene, 24 in Moxico, 17 in Lunda Norte, four in Lunda Sul, three in Benguela, three in Luanda and one in Huila, aged between 1 and 76 years.

The country now counts 43,890 positive cases, 1057 deaths, 40,663 recoveries, and 2170 active cases, of which 16 are critical, 17 severe, 89 moderate, 16 mild, and 2032 asymptomatic.

There are 140 people in hospitalization, 219 in institutional quarantine and 784 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

In terms of testing, laboratories processed in the period under review, 7939 samples by RT-PCR, making a cumulative to date of 841,707 processed samples, with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At the entry and exit points in Luanda, 445 people were tested on an antigen test basis.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,303,610 deaths worldwide, among more than 203.3 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the pandemic began, according to the most recent assessment by the France-Presse agency.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
