Covid-19: Angola with 70 new confirmed cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 70 new infections, five deaths and 43 recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, released this Sunday.

The positive cases were reported in the provinces of Cunene (17), Luanda (16), Namibe (10), Moxico (9), Zaire (6), Huila (4), Lunda Sul (4), Benguela (2), Malanje (1) and Bié (1), in people aged between six months and 96 years, 47 males and 43 females.

As for the notifications of deaths, four males and one female, aged between 46 and 96 years, died in Cunene (2), Benguela (1), Lunda Sul (1) and Moxico (1).

However, 43 patients, aged between seven and 72 years, were recovered, 20 of them in Cunene, the same number in Moxico and three in Huila.

With the figures of the last 24 hours, the country now counts 43.662 positive cases, 1049 deaths, 4122 recovered and 2491 active, of which 13 in critical condition, 16 severe, 92 moderate, eight mild and 2362 asymptomatic, with 129 people hospitalized, 217 others in institutional quarantine and 806 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed, in the last 24 hours, 962 samples by RT-PCR, being the cumulative of 831,456 samples processed, with a positivity rate of 5.3 percent.

At the entry and exit points in Luanda, the only region of the country under sanitary fence, 345 people were tested in the period under review on the basis of the antigen test.

The covid-19 pandemic has claimed at least 4,287,427 lives worldwide, among more than 202.2 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus, since the WHO detected the disease in China in late December 2019, according to the latest France-Press tally based on official data.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the UK, India, South Africa, Brazil and Peru.
