Cited by Angop, the holder of the Energy and Water portfolio made it known that he will be responsible for solving the problem: the minister explained that he was directed to settle the debt to the contractor, together with the Ministry of Finance, during the next two months, aiming to finish the project in the first half of next year.

Budgeted at $212 million, the project has been underway since 2018 and is 72 percent complete.

According to Angop, it is estimated that this year will see the start of tests on two of the dam's four turbines.

The project will make it possible to increase the energy capacity supplied from 8.4 to 34 megawatts.

It is recalled that on Thursday, August 26, the President, João Lourenço, visited the Luachimo dam works, which are expected to be concluded in the second semester of 2022.
