The Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, announced this Monday seven more cases of covid-19 and three new deaths, justifying the low number of infections diagnosed with the breakdown of laboratory equipment.

The seven new cases, all from Luanda, concern people between the ages of 23 and 55, five male and two female.

"The low number of new cases reported today is due to a technical breakdown in the higher flow molecular biology laboratory, which should be repaired by tomorrow," explained the ruler.

Two other patients are considered recovered and three have died due to the new coronavirus, all male and aged 19, 33 and 69.

Angola has a total of 1679 cases, of which 78 deaths, 569 are recovered and 1032 are active, with four in critical condition and 21 in severe condition.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 731,000 deaths and infected more than 19.8 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.

In Africa, there are 23,269 confirmed deaths in more than a million people infected in 55 countries, according to the latest pandemic statistics from that continent.
