According to a statement from the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce, to which VerAngola had access, the future industrial park will have 160 factories from various sectors.
"With an investment of 600 million dollars, the park will occupy an area of 210 hectares and will have 160 factories from different sectors that will allow the creation of more than 10 thousand direct jobs and 20 thousand indirect jobs and attract more foreign investment", reads the statement.
In statements at the ceremony, cited in the note, the chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of African Sunrise, Jack Huag, highlighted the benefits of the project, highlighting that "creating an environment conducive to business development, with modern infrastructure and tax incentives to attract companies from all over the world are some of the objectives, as the project is a milestone for Angola's sustainable industrialization path".
Also speaking was Luís Cupenala, president of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce, who, on the occasion, highlighted that the venture reflects the State's guarantee "in private foreign investment", given that in March this year, the President of the Republic held a state visit to China, which made it possible to sign several memoranda.
According to the chamber of commerce's statement, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Minguês also spoke, having, on the occasion, highlighted the "importance of the project for the economic diversification and sustainable development of Angola", as well as stating "it is a crucial step for manufacturing industry on the African continent".
"The strategic location of the project, with easy access by road, rail, airport and port, highlights its importance within the scope of our country's regional integration in the free trade zone of the Southern African Economic Community (SADC), in the Economic Community of the States of Central Africa (CEEAC) and especially with our neighbors", said the minister who, quoted by Angop, assured that companies that in the future establish themselves in that enterprise will benefit from water, electricity facilities, competitive labor expenses, lasting property rights and stable and, within government policies, may benefit from other incentives and support for private investment.
Zhang Bin, Chinese ambassador to Angola, said that the future industrial park "represents a new era in the relationship between Angola and China, which will increase the competitiveness of the Angolan market".
The Chinese diplomat, speaking to Angop, considered that the new park will encourage the country's development, having highlighted that the Chinese authorities "have always encouraged the local business community to invest in the productive sector, a model which they believe is necessary and important for diversify the Angolan economy".
"This act also represents the beginning of the period of transformation in the relationship between Angola and China", he considered, having also highlighted the opportunities that China has in the industrial sector, linked to the needs of Angola's productive domain.
Construction of the Funda Industrial Park begins this month and is expected to last between three and four years, says Angop.
Also present at the event were the advisor to the Vice-President of the Republic, Elsa Barber, the Secretary of State for Industry, Carlos Rodrigues, the secretary of the MPLA's Political Bureau for Social Policy, Maricel Capama, among others.
