Anisabel Veríssimo e Costa told the press that the tender had already been held for the provinces of Luanda and Bengo.
"We have finalized the tender, we already have a company to treat each of the points, they are national companies, and at this moment we only need the last adjustments and the signing of the contract for carrying out the activity", said Anisabel Veríssimo e Costa.
The president of the National Maritime Agency stressed that it was necessary to update the initial study, because "there has been a certain amount of mining" for scrap metal, due to the lack of protection in the area where they are found, which somewhat altered the bases for carrying out the tender, in December 2021.
Anisabel Veríssimo e Costa underlined that in the area of Sarico (Bengo) and in the Bay of Luanda there are many scraps, that is, means that are not used at sea, ranging from artefacts from the colonial war, abandoned oil wrecks, cabotage ships, long-haul ships and others, which put the environment and maritime navigation at risk.
"And we currently need to do the research again, to check if we can detect all the instruments that are there or if there are still any that we have passed in that survey of the means", stressed the person in charge, adding that the study will now be carried out carried out by the companies and contractors.
"The companies with whom we are going to sign the contracts must carry out this survey again, because we did the initial survey, but it is important that the companies carry out the survey again to verify whether the data we pass on is concrete, whether it is still up to date or whether need elaboration", she stressed.
