Angola debuts with victory at Afrocan

Angola started winning at the African Basketball Championship (Afrocan) 2023, which is taking place in Luanda. The victory of the national team was witnessed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.

In the inaugural game – which took place last Saturday, at the Multiusos pavilion in Kilamba – Angola faced its counterpart from Mali, which it won with a difference of 17 points (72-55).

The match went to halftime with the national team leading the scoreboard with a five-point lead (42-37).

In the end, Angola emerged victorious, having beaten Mali 72-55.

According to a brief note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the match had the testimony of the Head of State who, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, attended the beginning of the 2nd edition of Afrocan.

"The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, was present today [Saturday] at the Kilamba Multipurpose Pavilion to watch the start of the second edition of Afrocan de Basketball, a competition in which athletes participate exclusively. that evolve in the championships of their countries".

Thus, adds the note, João Lourenço "saw Angola beat the selection of Mali by 72-55, in a hard-fought match full of emotion".

Angola is part of Group B, which is also made up of Nigeria and Mali. The national team returns to the field this Monday, in a game against Nigeria.
