Director General of IACC announces opening of two new cancer treatment centers in Luanda

Two new cancer treatment centers will soon open in Luanda province. The announcement was made by Fernando Miguel, general director of the Angolan Cancer Control Institute (IACC), who also guaranteed the “expansion of oncology services” to four other provinces in the country.

Regarding the opening of new centers in the capital, the official indicated that they will be located in the municipalities of Cacuaco and Luanda.

"Two more units will soon open in Luanda: one in the municipality of Cacuaco and the other will be here in the municipality of Luanda," he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

On the occasion, the general director of the institute also left the guarantee that the expansion of oncology services "will continue".

"The expansion of oncology services will continue, with the creation of other centers across the country, one in Cabinda, Huambo, Malanje and Huíla", said the official, quoted by RNA.

According to Fernando Miguel, per year, the institute registers an average of more than 1000 cases of cancer. Cited by Angop, the official said that the IACC has checked, for seven years, an average of 1300 cases of cancer.
