Candidates from seven political parties (MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, APN, PHA and P-NJANGO) and a coalition were admitted, and the rulings relating to each process can be consulted on the TC website.

This is yet another stage of the electoral process that passes through the TC, the body that verifies the regularity of the processes and documents presented, as well as the ineligibility of candidates.

The initial lists were published on the 26th of June, followed by a deadline to address any insufficiencies or irregularities, which ended on the 5th of July, with all candidacies verified.

The TC will now send the list of admitted candidates to the National Electoral Commission (CNE), which is the entity responsible for the draw that will define the order of the ballot papers.

More than 14 million Angolans, including those residing abroad, are eligible to vote on the 24th of August.

Since the 2010 Constitution came into force, presidential elections have not been held, with the President and Vice-President being the heads of the list of the most voted party in the legislative elections.

In the last election, in 2017, the MPLA (Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola) won the majority with 61.07 percent of the votes and 150 deputies, and UNITA (União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola) won 26.67. percent of the vote and 51 deputies.

CASA (9.44 percent), PRS (1.35 percent), FNLA (0.93 percent) and APN (0.51 percent) followed.
