The decision of the Juzgado de Guardia de Barcelona was forwarded to the Lusa agency by Tchizé dos Santos' lawyer, Cármen Varela.

The team of lawyers of Cármen Varela and Molins Defensa Penal also denounced the "pressure" of the Government of Angola, which made several of its members travel to Barcelona, together with the Attorney General of the Republic, to take the body to Angola and celebrate a State funeral against the President's wishes to be buried in Barcelona.

Tchizé dos Santos has publicly spoken out against holding a funeral in Luanda, due to disagreements between some members of the dos Santos family and the government.

Tchizé, as well as the former president's eldest daughter, Isabel dos Santos, who is facing lawsuits in several countries, have not been to Angola for several years, alleging political persecution and fear for their lives.

José Eduardo dos Santos has eight children, of five women, and the opinion of the other family members has not been publicly disclosed.

On Friday, the President, João Lourenço, said that the Government will organize the funeral rites of the former head of state José Eduardo dos Santos, for which everyone will be present, including the family "that is out there" .

"If we take into account the current circumstances, we don't see why the family that is outside cannot [can] accompany their loved one, we are counting on the presence of everyone without exception," said João Lourenço, on the way out. of an emergency meeting of the MPLA, the ruling party of which José Eduardo dos Santos was president emeritus.

In an extensive ten-page press release, in which they try to frame the events surrounding the death of José Eduardo dos Santos, the lawyers point out that João Lourenço "declared war" on the dos Santos family since he came to power in 2017, forcing them to to exile in Spain.

They also say that the purpose of moving the body for a funeral in Angola is to show that the party, MPLA, in power since independence in 1975, is united, at a time when the electoral campaign for the scheduled elections is about to begin. for 24 August, which are expected to be hotly contested.

The statement reinforces that José Eduardo dos Santos, who ruled Angola for 38 years and left voluntarily in 2017 to give way to João Lourenço, expressed "his refusal to be buried in Angola with a state funeral that could favor the current government".

They point out, on the other hand, that both Tchizé and some of her brothers "cannot return to Angola since the Angolan authorities have denied them the right to renew their passports".

The note also mentions the links between Ana Paula dos Santos, the last wife of José Eduardo dos Santos with whom he had three children, with the Angolan regime, noting that their marriage is not recognized in Spain and that the two were de facto separated for some time. many years.

The lawyers write that "there are indications" that the death of the former president was favored by Ana Paula dos Santos, the doctor João Afonso, "and other figures close to the Angolan regime", pointing to negligence in the care provided.

Finally, they inform that this week Tchizé dos Santos filed an action requesting measures of personal and financial support, in relation to his father.

The best-known children of the former head of state, Isabel dos Santos, Tchizé and her brother, José Paulino dos Santos, better known by the artistic name Coréon Du, and usually more discreet, shared words of tribute on their social media pages, and photos remembering the father.
