Speaking as part of his two-day visit to Cunene, the official argued that the covid-19 test remains an essential component for people to enter Angola.
Cited by Angop, the Secretary of State for Public Health explained that this reinforcement is the way to know the real situation.
Franco Mufinda also took the opportunity to indicate that the local authorities are working randomly in small samples, with the need to increase the number of tests to help expand the work.
Besides the tests, Mufinda explained that the control of covid-19 at the border with Namibia also involves vaccination. In this case the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a single dose, is being administered.
The official indicated that it is important to continue to raise awareness among the population to join the vaccination and asked the media and local authorities to help mobilize people.
"We know that Cunene communities have influence with Namibia, where there are some problems of adherence to vaccination, a fact that can play negatively the process in border areas," he said, quoted by Angop.
Finally, he also appealed to the local population, so that the standards of prevention continue to be met.
