Speaking at the end of a meeting of the commission, Francisco Furtado, Minister of State and Head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, admitted that the vaccination rate in the country is still low, but that the authorities are working hard to achieve the defined goals.
Cited by Angop, the official explained that the obstacles that have been registered in the vaccination process are related to the delays in the arrival of vaccines to Angola and also to the delay in the application of the vaccination plan in several parts of the country.
However, he indicated that with the "resumption of the process, as a result of the vaccines received recently, there will be conditions to work better in the digital certification of the vaccine against covid-19".
Country aims to reach vaccination goal by June 2022
The Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, in statements to the National Radio of Angola, indicated that the new batches of vaccines that were acquired by the Government will start to arrive to the country in the near future, assuring that these will allow reaching the vaccination goal until June of next year.
Not all vaccines "have been donated", indicated the governor, adding that the Government has also made purchases.
"We will have in the near future vaccines arriving from several sources," said the Health Minister.
The minister said that they are "still working to acquire vaccines" and classified the process as long and ambitious. However, she informed that the Government expects "during this year and the first half of next year" to achieve the vaccination goals set.
