Isabel dos Santos: "It is false to say that the Angolan justice does not know my whereabouts and cannot contact me".

Businesswoman Isabel dos Santos denied the words of the attorney general of the Republic (PGR), Hélder Pitta Grós, stating that Angolan justice will have knowledge and means to contact her. "It is false to say that the Angolan justice does not know my whereabouts and cannot contact me," he stressed.

Isabel dos Santos' reaction came after the OPG stated that the judiciary faced difficulties in notifying the businesswoman, admitting she did not know "what her domicile was, nor where she lived".

"In response to statements made by the Attorney General of the Republic of Angola, I hereby inform and clarify that, since January 2020, I have constituted lawyers with powers of attorney in Angola and Portugal, with forensic powers presented and accepted by the courts, as well as I have been present in all the files and processes of whose existence I was aware (by my diligence), both in the justice of Portugal and in Angola", begins by explaining Isabel dos Santos, in a statement sent to VerAngola.

The daughter of former President José Eduardo dos Santos also reveals that the lawyers representing her are "mandated as required by law" and have been in contact with the Angolan PGR, the Luanda Court and the Portuguese justice.

Last Friday, the attorney general of the Republic assumed difficulties in notifying the businesswoman, in Angola and other countries, admitting that the possibility of issuing an arrest warrant "is open".

"I refute the statement that my whereabouts are not known or that I am not contactable. The statement that the Angolan justice system does not know my whereabouts and that it cannot contact me is false", she stresses.

Isabel dos Santos also made it known that on 30 May and 6 June she was notified by the Court of Luanda and received sentences, from which she filed appeals. "I have regularly participated in corporate acts and various meetings as recently happened in the General Meeting of EuroBic held last April, as in other calls", she adds.

The businesswoman classifies Pitta Grós' statement as "unacceptable" and says that he can only "wish to create an artificial framework of justification for issuing an international arrest warrant to see if I am now silenced". She adds that her freedom of expression "seems to be bothering her politically", which is why they want to silence her "politically and socially at all costs".

"The discovery and restoration of the truth in this process is of my greatest interest, because I am, besides my collaborators and their families, the person most affected by this situation of injustice resulting from political persecution," he says, making it clear that he is willing to collaborate with justice and to provide all the necessary clarifications so that the truth prevails.
