In a statement, cited by Angop, the bank reveals that the aim of these loans is to help African countries grow by reducing the level of poverty and creating financial relief measures for families.
This represents about one third of the total World Bank portfolio and almost double what the Sub-Saharan Africa region received 10 years ago, the note said.
The World Bank also reveals that its department for Africa has changed: there are now two vice-presidencies for West and Central Africa - which will be led by Ousmane Diagana - and for East and Southern Africa - which will be led by Hafez Ghanem.
