According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, to which VerAngola had access, the entry of this brand into Angola was made official this week, with the signing of an agreement between the Angolan Sovereign Fund and Marriott International.

"On 25 June, the Angolan Sovereign Fund (FSDEA) announced the signing of an agreement with Marriott International for the launch of the Sheraton Hotels and Resorts brand in Angola, with the future Sheraton Luanda", reads the statement, which adds that this announcement was made during the US-Africa Summit – held between Monday and Wednesday in Luanda –, highlighting the "growing affirmation of Angola as a tourism and investment destination".

The future hotel unit, says the ministry, will have a total of 326 rooms and will be installed in the Bay of Luanda.

"With an opening scheduled for early 2026, the 326-room hotel will be strategically located in Luanda Bay, overlooking the sea and close to the city's commercial, diplomatic and cultural centers," the statement said.

The future hotel will have a wide range of amenities, such as "a restaurant with all-day service, several bars, 11 versatile spaces for meetings and events, a gym, spa, swimming pool, Sheraton Club and collaborative work areas and lounge."

On the occasion, the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, who witnessed the signing of the agreement, considered that the entry of this brand in the country "represents a strategic milestone" for the sector he leads.

"The entry of the Sheraton brand in Angola represents a strategic milestone for the tourism sector, raising hospitality standards, attracting international investment and positioning the country as an increasingly competitive destination in the global market," he said, as quoted in the statement.

In turn, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of FSDEA, Armando Manuel, considered that this step reinforces Angola's position "as a competitive and growing tourist destination".

"This step reflects our commitment to the strategic strengthening of Angola's portfolio of national assets, reinforcing the country's position as a competitive and growing tourist destination. At the same time, it demonstrates Angola's ambition to align with emerging trends in the African hotel sector, promoting sustainable investments that meet international standards of quality and hospitality", said Armando Manuel, quoted in a note from FSDEA, to which VerAngola had access.

In addition to the Minister of Tourism, also present at the signing ceremony were Augusta Frederico Fortes, Secretary of State for Commerce, Augusto Kalikemala, Secretary of State for Tourism, Agostinho Van-Dúnem, Angolan Ambassador to the United States of America, Allícia Santos, Director of the Institute for Tourism Development (INFOTUR), members of the Board of Directors of FSDEA and a representative of Marriott International.
