According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, to which VerAngola had access, the new four-star hotel is located in Morro Bento and has 84 rooms, 13 of which are suites.

"With the creation of 70 direct jobs, the Protea By Marriott Luanda Hotel is thus kicking off a series of investments by the group in hotel units planned for Angola, aiming to increase the number of available beds, provide high-standard services and an international-level accommodation experience", the statement reads.

In statements at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Tourism, who welcomed the group for bringing the international Marriott brand to Angola, also highlighted the close ties that the ministry has with operators and the market.

Quoted by Angop, Márcio Daniel reiterated that the Executive has a strategy to make the country a high-quality tourist destination, having highlighted the importance of high-quality tourism agents with an international presence in learning the best practices of other countries and sharing this knowledge with local operators.

"For us, as a Ministry, it is a great joy to see the birth of a hotel unit that boasts the prestigious international brand, Marriott", he added.

"This is the first Protea Angola Hotel, managed by Marriott Angola, a subsidiary of the prestigious Marriott group that brings to the region a unique space with excellent service for business and leisure", said the hotel's administrator, Azim Manji, adding that the unit, including modern equipment and training of technicians, corresponded to an investment of approximately 15 million dollars, ensuring a 12-year operation.

"This is not just a hotel, more than the building, it is the symbol of hospitality, comfort and excellent service, where our guests will find a welcoming and memorable environment", he considered, quoted by Angop.

The official also said that Angola has been standing out in the international tourism scene and the opening of hotels of this size is welcome.

In addition to the rooms, the hotel also has a swimming pool, parking for 40 vehicles, a gym, a restaurant, among others, and, according to the administrator, it will soon offer more services.

According to the note from the Ministry of Tourism, the Marriott Group "is the largest hotel company in the world, owning more than 30 brands in 138 countries, with more than 8500 properties and more than 173 million loyal members by 2023".

On the African continent, "Marriott International owns a network of around 80 mid and high-end properties, represented by the Protea by Marriott brand, present in 10 countries on the continent, a restricted list of which Angola is now included".
