According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, the Dutch shipbuilder received under this financing contract for Angola, and for the first time, an order from the Japanese Toyota Tsusho, which in addition to supporting Toyota Motors' business activities, operates in the industrial sectors, commercial and consumer.
Quoted in the statement, the responsible minister Ricardo Viegas D'Abreu, highlighted that in the second half of this year the international competition will be launched for the concession to manage the Southern Corridor, of which the Port of Namibe is an integral part.
The port development project in the south of the country includes the expansion of the Namibe container terminal and the construction of a new terminal, to allow larger and deeper ships to call at the Port of Lobito, and increase cargo handling capacity.
The shipbuilder began construction of ships destined for the Port of Namibe at the Damen Gorinchem shipyard, in the Netherlands (Pushy Cat 1004), at the Damen Antalya shipyard, in Turkey (Stan Pilot 1905) and at the Damen Song Cam shipyard, in Vietnam (ASD Tugs 2813).
