Angola wins and is one victory away from qualifying for CAN2024

The Angolan football team, coached by Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, beat the Central African Republic (RCA) by 2-1 on Saturday, in a game for the fifth round of Group E qualifying for the 2024 African Cup of Nations (CAN2024).

In a game played in Douala, Cameroon, the Angolans, who rose to second place in the group, with eight points, opened the scoring, in the 12th minute, through Gaspar, and Milson, in the 86th minute, secured the victory, after RCA tied, at 46, through Kondogbia.

Throughout the game, the Angolans also saw two of their goals being annulled by the refereeing team, for offside.

With this triumph, Angola, which will host the last round in Luanda, Madagascar, on the 3rd of September, is one victory away from qualifying for CAN2024.

Ghana, who visited Madagascar on Sunday, leads group E, with eight points, Angola is second, with the same points, the Central African Republic fell to third, with seven, and Madagascar is last, with just one.
