In a statement sent to VerAngola, the team informs that the competition will be played between 23 and 25 June. "The Angolan Angola Rally Team, which continues to work hard in its preparation for the world's premier all-terrain race, the Dakar Rally, will compete between the 23rd and 25th of June in the Republic of Botswana in the race called TGRSA – 1000 Desert Race", reads the note, adding that participation in the said race will be yet another internationalization of the team.
Mentioned in the note, the duo made up of the pilot João Lota and the navigator Nuno Santos says they are prepared for the aforementioned challenge, which, although it is "a little different from what they have been doing abroad, will add substantial added value on their journey towards Dakar Rally, which is intended to be a reality very soon".
The TGRSA – 1000 Desert Race will start from the city of Jwaneng, in the Kalahari Desert, and will cover more than 1000 timed kilometers over three days.
According to the statement, the referred race is part of the competition calendar of the South African Cross Country Championship, "where it is considered the 'queen' race". In addition, it is also part of "the restricted set of races chosen for the 'Road To Dakar' challenge".
"With five titles in the National Rally Raid Championship, and after the 3rd International podium conquered last year at the Crono Rally in South Africa, the team will compete right after returning to Angola the Rally da Quissama, where it will defend the newly achieved leadership in the National Championship (class E1) after the victory in the Baía Azul Rally, in May", says the statement.
It should be noted that the Angola Rally Team is registered in the G-SXS category, with a CAN AM Maverick X3 vehicle and will have the assistance service of the South African team "MOTO-NETIX".
In terms of sponsorships, the team has Banco Bic, Unitel, Sistec, Bic Seguros, Printlab, Pumangol, Alpiconstrói and Rijo Supplies.
