João Lourenço visits works at the ‘Pedalé’ Hospital

The President of the Republic visited, this Wednesday, the premises of the future Hospital Pedro Maria Tonha 'Pedalé' to verify the level of execution of the contract. According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, which VerAngola had access to, the visit took place this Wednesday morning.

"At the end of this Wednesday morning, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, paid a visit to the future Pedalé Hospital, which is being built in Morro Bento, south of Luanda, to verify the state of works", reads in the note.

During the visit, adds the note, the head of state "went through extensive areas of infrastructure, for a precise knowledge of the entire process that will lead to the existence of one of the most sophisticated hospitals ever implanted in Angolan land", reads in the communiqué.

In addition, the President also received "detailed explanations" from the contractor about the progress of the works which, according to Angop, are currently at a physical execution of around 70 percent.

According to the Government of the Province of Luanda (GPL), the future infrastructure will include, among others, a main building, a hemodialysis centre, an integrated support centre, a training center and a heliport.

In addition, according to Angop, the hospital unit will have 144 beds, 36 external consultation offices, 16 examination rooms, 36 hemodialysis chairs, two radiotherapy and radiosurgery treatment rooms, nuclear medicine, an equal number of delivery rooms , five laboratories, training center in robotic surgery, among others.

A hotel with 100 rooms and a building with 20 T2 apartments could also form part of the infrastructure. It should also be noted that the undertaking will also have nuclear medicine, a histocompatibility laboratory, neurosciences and orthopedics, among other services, according to Angop.

Also present at the visit were the deputy governor for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel António Gonçalves, and members of the central government, according to the GPL.

It should be recalled that in 2020, the President of the Republic had paid a visit to this hospital's contract, when he stated that the future hospital unit will provide medical assistance to all people.
