João Lourenço guarantees that Hospital "Pedalé" will provide medical assistance to all people

Contrary to what had initially been said, the Pedro Maria Tonha "Pedalé" Hospital will provide medical assistance to all people. The guarantee was given by the President, João Lourenço, when he visited the works on Saturday.

During his visit on Saturday to the construction work of "Padalé" Hospital, the President of the Republic said that the news that that hospital unit would serve to provide medical assistance only to the country's political class was not true. João Lourenço assured that the hospital will have its doors open to everyone: "imagine such a hospital to serve the political class, nowhere in the world is that possible, so what was said is mere speculation".

The "Pedalé" hospital started being built in 2012, but the works stopped in 2016 due to financial problems. However, João Lourenço also made it known that the financial problems surrounding the work - valued at around 220 million dollars - are being resolved so that the works don't stop again, writes Novo Jornal.

It's estimated that the work will end in May 2021. The hospital unit will have 144 beds, 36 consultation offices, 16 examination rooms, 33 hemodialysis chairs, five operating rooms, a hotel with 100 rooms and a building with 20 apartments.

João Lourenço also revealed, during his displacement, that the first phase of the rehabilitation and expansion of the Sanatório de Luanda Hospital will be concluded this year. "What is missing is essentially equipment and, with the payments that are necessary, we can inaugurate at least the first phase, even before the end of this year, which would be ideal," he said.
