Prices of basic food products fall 35.7 percent

For the week of the 16th to the 22nd of May, a decrease in the average prices of basic basket goods was announced in the order of 35.7 percent compared to November last year.

According to forecasts from the Strategic Food Reserve (REA), it is estimated that the global average price of basic food basket goods will fall from 16,801 kwanzas to 10,809 kwanzas in the week under analysis.

Thus, it is expected that the cost of Thai rice (package of 25 kilograms) will drop to 6,500 kwanzas, against the previous 11,737 kwanzas. The same amount of rice from the Myanmar brand should go from 10,000 to 6,500 kwanzas.

The forecasts, cited by Angop, also estimate that 25 kilograms of cornmeal will be sold at 7,050 kwanzas, against the previous 13,800 kwanzas. Wheat flour (25 kg bag) will also rise from 23,033 kwanzas to 7,875 kwanzas.

In turn, the box of chicken (10 kilograms) will go from 10,190 kwanzas to 7,100 kwanzas. Already 50 kilograms of sugar will drop from 24,200 kwanzas to 19,533 kwanzas.

In the period in question, there were also drops in the prices of soybean oil (12 liters), with a drop from 17,450 kwanzas to 11,050 kwanzas, and in the 25 kilograms of pinto beans, worth 20,863 kwanzas, including the previous 24,000 kwanzas , writes to Angop.

Prices, valid throughout the country, reflect a general decrease of 35.7 compared to November last year, when the REA had not yet been activated.
