Namibia wants to bet on the import of bananas ‘made in Angola’

The national banana is in the sights of Namibian businessmen, who reiterated, at the Angola-Namibia Business Forum, their bet on importing this fruit ‘made in Angola’. According to Pedro Abílio, secretary general of the Angola-Namibia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, our country has the capacity to export this product on a large scale to the neighboring country.

"Table bananas as well as bread bananas are one of the great products that the Republic of Namibia has been importing from Angola and we are very interested in bringing these products here, as well as several other products that Namibia is interested in buying in Angola", said the official, who was speaking at the forum that took place this Thursday and Friday, in the town of Ochicango (Namibia).

Cited by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), Pedro Abílio also mentioned that in Africa the country is "a potential banana producer" and therefore wants to "interact better" and bring the product to Namibia "to facilitate exchanges between the two countries , flow more and more business between the two countries, attract businessmen from the Republic of Namibia to the Republic of Angola and vice versa".

On the other side of the coin, the country can benefit from Namibia's knowledge in the technological field and in the industry: "Namibia has a lot of experience in the technological field, it has a lot of experience in industries as well, this partnership would be good and good for the country to take the strength that Namibia has in this regard", he said, quoted by RNA.

In addition, the secretary informed that they traveled from Luanda to Namibia by car, adding that "it is good" and stressing that all businessmen "who really want to export their products" to Namibia "to not be moved because the road is good and we can bring the products here and also take them from here to the Republic of Angola".

According to RNA, the forum brought together around 300 businessmen, of whom 70 are Angolans.
