Avenue in Luanda named 'Sérgio Luther Rescova' in honor of the former governor

One of the largest avenues in the capital, which connects the municipalities of Talatona, Kilamba-Kiaxi and Viana in a length of 18.5 kilometers, was named 'Sérgio Luther Rescova', as a tribute to the former governor - who led Luanda between January 2019 and May 2020 and died in October 2020.

At the inauguration of the avenue, which took place in the month when Sérgio Rescova would turn 42, the governor of the capital, Ana Paula de Carvalho, considered that it is a tribute to immortalize the former governor for his achievements.

"This tribute is a way to immortalize him for his achievements, not only for Luanda but as a youth leader, the leader of Angola. He had a very short stay in that land, but it was very remarkable", she said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

In turn, Pedro Rescova spoke on behalf of the family, having thanked all the people who were involved in this tribute, especially the residents of Fubu.

"My thanks to the residents of Fubu" who "made an already more visible chain" asking for what was witnessed this Wednesday "to be possible", said the brother if Sérgio Luther Rescova.

Crispiniano dos Santos, JMPLA's first secretary, classified the moment as "historic": "It is a historic moment, a moment of recognition. He always walked with the people, worked for the people. Paying homage in particular to Sérgio Luther Rescova translates for us simple and well-deserved tribute", he said, also quoted by RNA.

The ceremony was attended by the governor of Luanda, friends, family, among others.
