Gross credit to the non-financial sector recorded a “slight” fall in March

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) announced that gross credit to the non-financial sector amounted to 4.62 billion kwanzas last March, having registered a “slight” reduction of 0.98 percent.

According to the BNA, the "slight reduction" of around 45.70 billion kwanzas comprises 0.98 percent compared to the same period last year, with 91.97 percent representing the indebtedness of the private sector (private companies and individuals) and 8.03 percent public sector indebtedness (administration and public companies).

The central bank said in a statement that the indebtedness of the non-financial public sector totaled 371.52 billion kwanzas, of which 63.85 percent refer to public administration and 36.15 percent to public companies.

Compared to the same period last year, the indebtedness of the non-financial public sector registered a reduction of 33.80 billion kwanzas.

Regarding the private sector indebtedness, the BNA reports that there was a lower reduction of 11.91 billion kwanzas, having dropped from 4.26 billion kwanzas in March 2021 to 4.25 billion kwanzas in March 2022.

"As the indebtedness of non-financial private companies corresponded to 3.46 billion kwanzas, with an increase of 64.44 billion kwanzas and the indebtedness of individuals corresponded to 777.46 billion kwanzas with a reduction of 76 .35 billion kwanzas", refers in the note.
