In a statement, cited by Angop, the airline justified the temporary suspension of flights to these two provinces for operational reasons.
Last Wednesday, the company had announced the strengthening of weekly flights to the provinces of Cabinda, Lunda Sul, Huambo, Namibe and Huila.
For the Lunda Sul route, TAAG had decided to add a new flight on Sundays. For the Huíla route, a new flight had been created on Wednesdays. It is precisely these new flights that are now without effect.
With these new changes, the company will fly only once a week to Lunda Sul. Thus, TAAG keeps the weekly flight on Wednesdays to this province. The departure is made from Luanda at 07:00.
The same applies to the province of Huíla: the two weekly flights that were operated until then are maintained. Thus, TAAG will continue to fly to this province on Fridays and Sundays, with departures at 17h00 and 12h25, respectively.
The company reinforced that the Thursday flight to Huambo was suspended, but that the route continues to operate on Mondays, with departures from Luanda at 13h00. It also talked about the adjustments made for the Namibe province, stating that flights on Thursdays are maintained, but that departures are now at 12:10 instead of the current 15:00.
Recall that on Wednesday, the flag carrier also announced the strengthening of the connection to Portugal. As of Saturday, May 15, the company will operate a second weekly flight on the Luanda-Lisbon route.
