Aircraft parked at Luanda airport must leave by July

The 30 inoperative aircraft that are in the international airport 4 de Fevereiro, in the capital, must be removed by their owners by July, indicated a person in charge of the management of the airport.

According to the president of the executive committee of the Airport Management Company, Nataniel Domingos, these create constraints in the parking of aircraft, due to lack of space, and are a danger to air navigation.

"The airport has limited space in the parking area for aircraft in operation. From a safety point of view, it is a danger that we have aircraft there for a long period of time, exposed to various adversities," said Nataniel Domingos, in statements to Radio Nacional de Angola.

Nataniel Domingos said that of the 30 inoperative aircraft, mostly of medium size, 24 are accommodated in a remote area and the other six on the platform of the 4 de Fevereiro Airport parking area.

The president of the executive committee of the Airports Management Company stressed that the owners of the aforementioned aircraft are identified, with whom the National Civil Aviation Institute (INAVIC), mandated to enforce the notice, is currently in negotiation to find solutions.

"After the deadline, the aircraft that are in the situations described herein will be considered lost in favor of the State", said Nataniel Domingos, adding that in the notice published on December 27, 2020 by the Ministry of Transport, a deadline was set six months, which ends on 12 July next.

The document establishes that all notified entities are required to pay, in advance, the corresponding and due charges to the State, inherent in the prolonged parking of the devices.
