In an interview with TPA, the WHO representative in Angola admitted that the country was among the first to receive the vaccine because it was "ready".
"The vaccine was received and on the same day the vaccination campaign was started and the quality of the campaign has improved since that day March 2, when people started to be vaccinated," she indicated.
"We have a situation that is to be congratulated in Angola", added the official.
Djamila Cabral also made it known that all the vaccines that "the country received in the first batch" have already been administered and emphasized that it is necessary to "continue to fight to receive more vaccines and continue to protect the population.
About vaccine patents, she stressed that these are considered a common good and that, for this reason, the WHO will continue to "advocate and try to convince the world to accept that patents must be lifted so that vaccines can be manufactured anywhere in the world and so that everyone has access to these vaccines.
