According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Shareholdings (IGAPE), Álvaro Fernão, the National Interministerial Commission for the Privatization Program (Propriv) held its first ordinary meeting this Wednesday, which analyzed the 2024 Report, looking in particular at the privatizations on the stock exchange planned for this year and of other fixed assets.
From 2019 to 2024, one billion kwanzas were contracted, of which over 640 billion kwanzas were actually received.
Álvaro Fernão highlighted that the privatization on the stock exchange of the Angolan Development Bank (BFA), Standard Bank, the mobile operator UNITEL and TV Cabo are planned for this year.
“There has not yet been a decision to extend the privatisation deadline. The stock exchange is currently preparing these assets for privatisation. We currently have four assets. This will be the year with the most privatisations on the stock exchange since its creation,” the official stressed.
The president of IGAPE stressed that the privatisation of BFA and Standard Bank should take place at the end of the first half of the year, “at most, two weeks later”.
“We have an investment of around 300 billion [kwanzas] for BFA. It will be our largest investment since the start of this privatisation mechanism on the stock exchange. The last one we made was 10 percent of BAI, around 40 billion,” he said.
Last March, the State announced the privatisation of 15 percent of its stake in BFA, with 1 percent reserved for the institution’s employees.
Initially planned for the period 2019-2022, with a total of 195 public assets to be privatized, PROPRIV was extended for the period 2023-2026, through Presidential Decree No. 78/23 of March 28.
