The plans for the privatization program for 2025 were revealed by the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of IGAPE, Álvaro Fernão, when speaking at the Capital Market Conference, held last Friday.

On the occasion, the executive announced that three companies are in the process of preparing to enter the stock exchange. These are BFA, already at an advanced stage, Unitel and Cable TV.

"Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA) is in an advanced stage of being listed on the stock exchange, which could significantly increase the volume of transactions in Bodiva. Unitel is also preparing for its listing on the stock exchange, although the process is more complex given the nature of its operations. Additionally, 15 percent of TV Cabo is being prepared for placement on the market, with completion expected by the end of the year," he added, quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Finance to which VerAngola had access.

According to the department's note, for the first six months of this year, the institute plans to privatize four assets.

"For the first half of 2025, IGAPE foresees the privatization of four more assets", says the note.

Álvaro Fernão – who was speaking during the panel on "The role of the capital market in the privatization process" – stressed that "a strong and reliable capital market is essential for the success of the sale of state assets".

The Chairman of IGAPE also explained that "the objective of the privatization program is not only to attract large investors, but also to allow small subscribers to have access to the share capital of privatized companies".

He therefore reinforced: "The essence of the program is to have small subscribers holding part of the share capital of these companies undergoing privatization".

This strategy, the statement adds, seeks to "democratize access to the capital market and foster an investment culture among citizens".

On the occasion, the official also referred to the "success of previous privatizations", having highlighted the cases of Banco Angolano de Investimentos (BAI), Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI), Ensa and Bodiva.

"According to Fernão, these assets showed a significant appreciation, with increases ranging from 50 percent to 100 percent since their launch on the market. Furthermore, the dividends distributed by these companies have exceeded the yields offered by treasury bonds, making them attractive options for investors," the statement said.

Finally, the IGAPE CEO said that "these initiatives reflect IGAPE's commitment to promoting broader and more inclusive participation in the Angolan capital market, aiming to boost the economy and strengthen the country's business sector".
