When comparing prices from March this year with prices from March 2024, the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) reveals that the annual variation is 23.85 percent, registering a decrease of 1.41 percentage points, according to a note from INE.
The index registered a variation of 1.38 percent from February to March 2025, according to the Statistics Institute.
The drop in inflation in March confirms the downward trend in prices that has been recorded in Angola over the last eleven months, that is, since May 2024, according to data from INE.
The “transport” class was the one that registered the biggest price increase, with a variation of 1.83 percent. Also noteworthy are the price increases seen in the classes “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” with 1.77 percent, “hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 1.75 percent and “clothing and footwear” with 1.62 percent.
The provinces that recorded the lowest variation in prices were Lunda Sul with 1.34 percent, Malanje with 1.23 percent and Luanda with 1.18 percent. Bié (2.09 percent), Moxico (1.88 percent) and Cabinda (1.88 percent) were the provinces that recorded the greatest price variation in this period.
