The aforementioned hospital unit, which occupies an area of 25,000 square meters and is located in the urban district of Zango, in the municipality of Viana, "will prevent the population from traveling long distances in search of health services", points out a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access.
On the occasion, Sílvia Lutucuta, Minister of Health, pointed out that this hospital offers "comprehensive medical care".
According to the minister, "the new hospital, designed to meet the growing health needs of the Viana community and beyond, with modern facilities, will offer comprehensive medical care from emergency care to specialized services", the note reads.
Sílvia Lutucuta said that the hospital's facilities include operating rooms, imaging services, blood banks, laboratories, pediatrics, maternity, among other services.
After inaugurating the hospital unit, according to Angop, the President of the Republic, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Loureço, visited the infrastructure, which took three years to build, in an investment of more than 125 million euros, and will have 1200 employees, including doctors, nurses, imaging and laboratory technicians.
It should be noted that the name given to the hospital aims to honor Bishop Emílio de Carvalho. But who is Emílio de Carvalho after all? Born in August 1933, in Pungo Andongo (Malanje), the bishop, consecrated to the Episcopate in 1972, was named at the Central Africa Conference as the first Angolan to head the Unity Methodist Church of Angola. In addition to having held some positions linked to religion, such as general president of the Youth of the Methodist Church in Angola, among others, according to Angop, he is also an author, translator and writer.
