Ecopoints project by Refriango is expected to collect five million tons of waste in the capital

Tânia Jardim, Refriango's marketing director, informed that five million tonnes of solid waste is expected to be collected by the end of this year in the capital, within the framework of the Ecopontos project for environmental education.

Thus, with the aforementioned project – which is an initiative by Refriango –, several ecopoints will soon be distributed in strategic places in Luanda, said the official, quoted by Angop.

Tânia Jardim added that the number results from ongoing initiatives and that reflect the scope of the project, with a view to raising awareness and conservation of the environment, writes Angop.

In addition – said the official, quoted by Angop –, the project will also ensure the incentive to the circular economy and the habits of separating waste for residents of the capital.

The company's marketing director also highlighted that the management of solid waste corresponds to a field of "constant action by Refriango", and with "these actions" they support the actions of the Executive that are declared in the national plan to eliminate plastic.

"The management of solid waste in particular is an area of constant action by Refriango and with these actions we support the Government's activities expressed in the National Plan to ban plastic", said the official, who, quoted by Angop, also considered sustainability environment as a priority in the country's evolution.

It should be recalled that the President of the Republic created a working group to draw up a National Plan to Ban Plastics, with a view to "dealing with environmental degradation", as well as regulating the way plastics are produced and used.
