The work day began with a visit to the Coxi Urbanization, "where 1400 homes, communication and infrastructure routes, a water reservoir and a substation will be built," says a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.
"With a physical completion rate of approximately 41 percent and a financial completion rate of 50 percent, the first phase of the project foresees the construction of 700 three-bedroom homes by December of this year, for the resettlement of families living in the area where the Muxima Basilica is to be built," says the statement.
On the occasion, the head of state "received explanations from engineer Adilson Teixeira, from the Secretariat of Special Works (GOE), who gave a technical and updated presentation on the progress of the works."
During his visit, the President also "visited the works on the future main access road to Vila da Muxima, the infrastructured land, the municipal administration building, the construction area for the Basilica of Our Lady of Muxima, the water reservoir and a campsite".
The visit ended with "a meeting at the municipal administration with those responsible for the project".
According to the general manager of the project's construction company, more than 160 houses are already ready. "In statements to the press, the general director of the project's construction company, the Casais-Homatapalo consortium, Álvaro Fernandes, assured that more than 160 houses have already been completed to begin the process of resettling the families", the note reads.
In turn, Dom Filomeno Vieira Dias, archbishop of Luanda, considered this requalification "a major investment in combating poverty, which also contributes to the self-esteem of the population".
"The construction project for the Basilica, carried out by the Somague Angola/Griner Engenharia consortium, is located on a plot of land measuring 88,212.48 square meters, including a large square that will connect the existing chapel to the new projected space," the statement said.
The urban redevelopment project for the aforementioned village began in 2022. "In 2022, the urban redevelopment project for Vila da Muxima began, with the first phase of the project being financed by Portugal's credit line, through Banco BAI Europa, guaranteed by Banco de Fomento de Portugal. The second phase of the project is also awaiting financing," the statement said.
